The Bhoys in Ireland

Since I was 16 I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland (I had this silly little crush on Colin Farrell when I was younger) So anyways always wanted to go and when I was 28; due to the amazing generosity of my awesome mom she bought me a trip with her that would ultimately change my life. (Yes I will be shamelessly promoting my husbands band BLAGGARDS)

2013 was my first trip to Ireland and to another continent. My mom and I followed a band across the Atlantic, a stout Irish rock band: Blaggards and about 20 of their friends/fans; needless to say it was a trip of a lifetime. I met my best friend, my now husband Michael McAloon (aka Blaggards’ drummer) … Since this trip I have been to Ireland 3 other times. Every trip has been another awesome adventure. 2014 Mike and I got engaged on Hartcourt Street in Dublin, 2015 brought a week of hell with flights getting canceled, rerouted, stuck in London, and no luggage 😭 so not the greatest trip; however this trip was made better by the awesome camaraderie of BLAGGARDS fans and the bhoys rocking out in one of the most stunningly beautiful countries.

Now onto 2016!!! We had the greatest weather that I’ve ever seen in Ireland and we were there in October/November (and I’ve been in the summer as well) Below are some group pictures I took of the guys (minus their new full-time fiddler Wes Barlow!)

First five photos located at Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, Ireland the very bottom picture is located on Vinegar Hill outside Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford

2017 Resolution #1

So here I am for my first official blog and I’m going to be utterly cliche.

My biggest regret last year was I hardly used my camera; so this year I’m getting my skills and passion back up to speed. The first gift my now husband gave me while we were dating was a Canon Rebel T5i. I started taking pictures of my daughter and my husband’s band and also started taking photographs for my works’ construction projects. And for some reason (usually happens with hobbies) along the way I just stopped, kind of lost my touch and have a perfectly nice (expensive) set of lens and a great camera just collecting dust. So not cool Rae. Yes I totally referred to myself in the third person.

So 2017 resolution #1 (yes I have more then one) is to take more pictures! Photography anything landscapes, my daughter, my dogs, my husband’s band. Everything that anyone is good at starts with passion … photography has always been a passion of mine and this year I want it to go from more then just a hobby. Maybe a new career?

Below are just a few favorites from the last time I photographed my husband’s band BLAGGARDS … (yes shameless plug go check them out Blaggards
